No matter the weather, proper ventilation should be a part of your daily routine for healthier living. It not only improves your indoor air quality but also helps to maintain optimal humidity levels. If you're unsure how to ventilate effectively, we’ve got you covered.

Why ventilation is essential

Failure to ventilate can lead to serious issues. One of the most common problems is mold, caused by a buildup of moisture and warm air. Mold doesn't just damage your home's structure—it can also pose health risks. Regular air exchange is crucial, especially in damp areas like bathrooms, kitchens, and bedrooms, where moisture from breathing accumulates overnight.

Open the window for a better living environment

During the colder months, short, intense bursts of ventilation are the most efficient. Aim to open your roof windows fully for about 5-10 minutes, up to five times a day. This quick exchange of air allows fresh air to enter without losing too much heat, ensuring a healthy balance of warmth and ventilation.

In summer, the goal is to reduce indoor moisture. Open your windows early in the morning or late in the evening when the air is cooler and less humid. Close them once the inside temperature stabilizes to prevent hot, moist air from coming in. If possible, create a "through draft" by opening windows on opposite sides of your home to maximize airflow. You can also leave windows slightly open overnight, allowing constant ventilation if the temperature is comfortable.
